Coosan National School, Athlone, Co. Westmeath.
Coosan National School consists of a new sixteen classroom primary school, including special needs unit, in a two-storey building with a total floor area of 3,177 sq.m., built on the site of an existing primary school. The project comprised of building new ball-courts, play-areas, cycle storage spaces, boundary walls, footpaths, and parking along with other ancillary works. The works also consisted the demolition of the existing school and removal of existing prefabricated classrooms.
The works were divided into phases to allow the existing school to operate as normal. Two new temporary classrooms were installed to facilitate the works.
The project was carried out under the PW-CF1, Public Works Contract for Building Works Designed by the Employer.
